Tax Information and Preparation
The following tax information is meant to be a general guide and is not all inclusive. It does not offer specific advice. Please consult a tax professional for tax advice for your particular situation.

We couldn’t be a full-service agency without lending a hand to your tax planning and preparation. April 15 may always be a looming date of stress but our goal at Chinen & Arinaga is to reduce the amount of stress you may feel each year. With a little more thought and planning for taxes throughout the year, taxes can become easier to navigate and file.

Here are a few tips and suggestions that we’ve discovered over the years:

  • -   Know the tax savings and eligibility for your retirement plans. Ask one of our planners for more information and you may have a tax savings waiting for you within your current investment and retirement savings strategies.

  • -   Look ahead each year to see if you might have a change in your household—an additional dependent (birth, adoption or in-home care for a loved one) or the loss of a dependent (child moving out of the home). Each type of change in the number of dependents can impact your exemptions and tax liability.

  • -   Are you self-employed? There are several tax strategies and laws that can aid in your total deductions. Keep track of ALL business and related expenses with the use of receipt and record keeping as well as travel and expense logs.

  • -   Keep a tax calendar or the one on this site to help you keep track of important dates and milestones within each tax year.

  • -   Visit the IRS website quarterly to educate yourself on any updated or changed provisions.

  • -   Keep in contact with your tax preparer throughout the year with any updates or changes to your household or financial status.
